FAQ
Why do manufacturers discontinue patterns?
They discontinue patterns when it is no longer economical for them to manufacture them.
Will my pattern be discontinued?
Most likely. All patterns seem to discontinue over the years.
How do I choose a pattern that won't discontinue?
You can't. Patterns come and go as all trends do. Some people choose something simple in hopes that it will stay in production longer but this doesn't always work.
Is there any notice given by the manufacturer when a pattern is discontinued?
Some manufacturers do give notice to retail stores but neither the manufacturer or the retailer have the ability to contact each individual person who purchased a specific pattern.
Does the term "open stock" mean that I can buy pieces indefinitely?
No. Open stock means that you can buy individual pieces in a specific pattern at any given time (while it's still a stock pattern) as compared to buying a complete boxed set of a fixed number of pieces that you can't add to or replace individually.
